The Torch Bearers Of Corporate

Nah….. I am not talking about those Tatas, Birlas, Ambanies, Narayan Murthies and Laxmi Mittals, I am rather talking about those chain smokers who smoke their lungs off standing outside their office premises.
Somehow, these are the people who are better known than other non- smokers counterparts. You reach office in the morning, you’ll see them standing outside starting their day afresh with a smoke. A colleague of mine compares smoking to Pranayam. He says that process of smoking is same as that of Pranayam, you inhale deeply and then exhale.
In those smoking sessions, these people tend to discuss what’s happening in their lives, what’s happening in others lives, what’s going on in their teams/departments and hence are the people who have got all the inside information. And you can get more luckier if your boss smokes too! These “Smoking Guns” tend to develop a special bondage amongst them in the process.
These are the people who have got all the inside information, are actively involved in politics at work place and hence are most successful.
To me, a cigarette appears to be a ‘Torch’ and the smoker colleague ‘The bearer’ and the whole bunch ‘The Torch bearers of Corporate’

I liked the caption. Though, i use to call these "smoking guns" as "engines" because they require to emit smoke into the air to move ahead in the day right from the early morning before daily chores to goodnignt fag.

far fetched, though a very nice take. lets leave the butt for the smoker. i would recommend you two movies, "cheech and chong's up in smoke" and "thank you for smoking". each will show you one of the 2 sides of a smoker's coin :)

cheers

True. Our smokers group @ AMD probably is the most informed of the entire company. More than that, since we discuss things and we are all from different departments, we have been able to make some changes in the entire company that have positively effected everyone.

Thank you for this. I now feel so much better about myself. I think this will be our new tagline. We smokers, sacrificing our lungs for AMD's better tomorrow!

Yeah. That sounds good.
